Hallo Dr. Paul Brandenburg.

Paul Brandenburg: Hallo Frau Milena Preradovic.

Was ist genau thePlattform.net?

Milena Preradovic: Pa hast du vorhin schon genannt. Wer ist denn alles auf theplattform.net? Also bis jetzt schon mal.

Du hast Podcasts, also du hast quasi Audio, du hast Video, du kannst Sachen lesen.

Milena Preradovic: Also wir tun alles dafür.

Was ist deine Prognose? Same procedure?

Was ist meine Prognose als Feld-Wald-und-Wiesen Arzt, was Infektionskrankheiten angeht?

Milena Preradovic: Nein, nein.

Die kommt also wieder.

Also jetzt muss was passieren, oder?

Don’t called Impfung.

Milena Preradovic: Impfpflicht anders.

In diesen sogenannten hochentwickelten Ländern.

Milena Preradovic: Das stimmt. Deswegen. Danke Paul.

Paul Brandenburg: Ich danke dir, Milena.

Milena Preradovic: Ja, auch, weil du theplattform vorangetrieben hast. Super Idee, Leute, dass du mitmachst. Unbedingt.

Interview with Paul Brandenburg (english)

Milena Preradovic: What is the state of freedom of expression in Germany? Not so good, according to the major survey conducted by the Allensbach Institute in 2021. According to this survey, just under half of Germans believe that freedom of opinion is no longer guaranteed. Even critical journalists like me notice that the corridor of opinion is getting narrower and narrower. Blocks and deletions on social networks have become the new normal. Prominent academics know this, too. But is that healthy for a democracy, for a society, for science and progress? I believe new solutions are needed. Let’s talk about one now at Punkt Preradovic. Hello Dr. Paul Brandenburg.

Paul Brandenburg: Hello Ms. Milena Preradovic.

Milena Preradovic: Let me introduce you briefly, you’re a general and emergency physician, you studied at the Charité in Berlin and in Japan, you got your PhD at the Charité. You are a member of the German Society for Surgery and the German Transplantation Law Society, then chairman of the board of the critical and civic initiative 1 to 19. You also founded the online service Deep Heart, where people can create their living wills independently, and you are active in publishing and produce, among other things, together with me and guests, the weekly podcast Naked Level. And you are the initiator of a new platform called theplattform.net. What exactly is thePlattform.net?

Paul Brandenburg: Yes, I am an initiator of this platform .net and the whole becomes, if it continues to run so well, times the Streamingdienst of the free media. So we think a union of all the free producers out there, which many people know and appreciate Gunnar Kaiser, Milena Preradovic, Boris Reitschuster and among other things also myself brought together in one place, so that one, whether it is text, video or podcast just without constant change of all possible services, media and devices in one place simply all that is not financed and influenced.

Milena Preradovic: That’s basically the difference to other platforms, that everything is bundled there, right?

Paul Brandenburg: That’s exactly how it is. That everything is bundled and that there are producers who really act independently. We are not a central editorial office, we are not a body that commissions something and says Ms. Preradovic, please report positively or negatively about this and that, but it is really independent, completely economically and otherwise independently acting individuals who come together and share this one channel as a common platform, so that the viewers have it easier.

Milena Preradovic: Who actually built the platform? It’s not easy to build a platform like that, is it?

Paul Brandenburg: Indeed, that was a little marvel of a really great team. Idealists and people have come together who simply say that something has to be done. We need a new media world. We finally have to do something to get out of this corset, the state-financed superiority of media sources. And the vast majority of people have simply invested their free time and their own money to get this thing off the ground. So it’s investor-free.

Milena Preradovic: But it’s also not completely without working for the people there?

Paul Brandenburg: Indeed. So we, you know that already. I also know that you are attacked when you express opinions that do not correspond to the main line. And we had also already the case that a coworker of our team was attacked with the production of a documentation over a demo, recognized obviously and as it turned out later by an Antifa group of ten humans attacked, which is a little ironic footnote, because this humans comes now actually from the surrounding field originally times. One sees at the example like abstrus yes straight the aggression lines there run. You know this quite well. Yes, also there one anti-democratic basic attitude is imputed, if one publishes evenly a free opinion. And that’s why it’s really important for our members in their daily work that their name and address don’t appear everywhere on the advertising pillar, because the hostility is quite fierce.

Milena Preradovic: And the people who work pro bono, they don’t get any money for it?

Paul Brandenburg: That’s how it is. Most of them really do work pro bono, in their free time. Many of them come from the professional media sector and do the same work for us. There are definitely employees of the established media, as it is called, who in their day job, i.e. working there, say in the evening I have to do something meaningful and have to do justice to my actual job. For many, this is actually also a liberating blow in their private lives.

Milena Preradovic: And how else does theplattform.net finance itself?

Paul Brandenburg: Actually through the work and what our partners, our media partners bring in there? The media partners bring in their content, support us technically and also with staff, which in part works twice, so to speak, on the one hand for content producers and on the other hand for the platform. At the moment, it’s really a hippie-like joint project. It is as idealistic as it sounds. In the long term, however, the goal of this platform is clearly to say that quality media can only exist if they are also financed, so it goes without saying that people who spend their everyday, professional work producing this must also be able to live from it. That is quite clear. And we know that now from the alternative media world. People are willing to pay money for good content. So stinginess is not cool. And the viewers they donate, they pay, they support where they see what they get in return. And most people in the free media, after all, practice it in such a way that people can vote with their proverbial feet. That means the content is free. That’s also the case with theplattform. There is no paywall, there are no subscriptions. And if you think that’s good and right, you can donate to it. And that’s what all of us who are involved in theplattform believe is the way forward.

Milena Preradovic: How safe is theplattform from censorship?

Paul Brandenburg: Well, as safe as you can be. Of course, we abide by all applicable laws, that’s quite clear. Not only do we adhere to the basic principles of democracy and the state order, but we also stand for freedom of expression and for compliance with all criminal laws regarding the transgression of freedom of expression. And yet we have to assume that what we’re seeing on Twitter, what we’re seeing on YouTube, that at some point this will also be directed against the platform, that there will be demands from outside to say that this and that opinion, that this hate speech or that would unduly attack any minorities here, and then we will have to deal with it in due course, of course within the absolute framework of the law. We are technically prepared for the adversities for the time being. We have appropriate providers in appropriate countries who ensure that our technical platform is secure against attacks and against failures. As secure as one can be. We are based in Europe, we are run as an Irish company, but we expect the hostility to come. And anyone who says they are completely secure against technical attacks or against such censorship measures is, of course, exaggerating. We are not either, but we are confident that we can deal with it.

Milena Preradovic: You mentioned Pa earlier. Who all is on theplattform.net? So so far already.

Paul Brandenburg: Well, you can always see the current list. Just go to theplattform.net and then you can look under channels to see who’s on there right now. Milena Preradovic is the only one on there. Boris Reitschuster, Aya Velazquez, Dr. Lockdown, Radio München is also on it. Jens Fischer Rodrian, Nikolai Binner, terrific comedian. So it’s really through the bank publicists, journalists, authors, indubio the great podcast that we have so with Burkhard Müller-Ullrich, they’re also on it. Soon Burkhard Böttcher will join them and Faire Talk will also be there. There are, I think, all the ones we know and love out there. And hopefully there will be more every day.

Milena Preradovic: And also you, Paule, my Paule, are also there. Our naked level is of course also there, that’s quite clear. But the exciting thing is that there are not only videos. It’s not just a video platform.

Paul Brandenburg: That’s exactly how it is. So we believe that all the different delivery forms have to come together. And it makes sense that both the authors bring their texts there and the podcasts can be played there. The goal or purpose of the exercise is actually to bring together this fragmentation across the different media. There are a thousand good reasons for different services. Telegram makes sense for certain things. Even Twitter can be nice if it’s not censored. And we don’t want to say at all, this form of delivery and that form of media is better or worse. We want to bring them together in one place, so that all these different formats can be easily found in one place. And if you like Milena Preradovic, you can listen to her podcasts, watch her videos or read the texts she writes. Everything is accessible there. No matter in which form it was published.

Milena Preradovic: That’s exactly the impression I have, too, that if you go to theplattform, and this is still the beginning, you’ll find so many different things. So everything of course alternative, all independent journalists, independent media, but just also different things. You have podcasts, so you have quasi audio, you have video, you can read stuff. And I think that’s also the difference between theplattform and others. There are other alternative platforms, right?

Paul Brandenburg: Yeah, that’s the technical difference, so saying we just need to bring all the different forms together because it makes sense. But I think the other main difference is that we are really open to the artists and to the formats. We certainly have state-affiliated media. So we have Russian SNA News with us or Infrared, which is clearly funded from Russia. We say to him, “The common denominator is that we have no proximity to the local power in the broadcasting area. We really want a separation of political power and media publication. And we say there can only be independence if the media makers do not squint at what is now acceptable in their sphere of influence. That is, we tolerate everything from the democratic far left to the democratic far right that is beneficial or conducive to social coexistence. We do not make ourselves the judge of media content. We also have to put up with it when members of the platforms don’t like what’s going on. We don’t want to be a central editorial office, we don’t have one editorial line and just say who reports like this or who reports like that and then afford ourselves the occasional critic. No, we actually want to achieve genuine diversity of opinion. A theoretically simple, but nevertheless very high standard. Let’s see how we succeed.

Milena Preradovic: Well, we’re doing everything we can. So, and now we want to talk a little bit about the current situation and the future, but not here for reasons. You can watch the continuation of our conversation right now exclusively on theplattform.net. So the whole conversation with Paul Brandenburg on theplattform.net. See you in a bit. So glad you moved with us, because now we’re going to continue. Paul, let’s talk about the current situation. At the moment, Corona loosening is very important and at the beginning of spring, the worst measures are to be removed. A Freedom Day is proclaimed by the media. How much freedom is there in that?

Paul Brandenburg: Well, Melina, you’re asking slightly suggestively, I would say. Yes, no, no, no. And those who know us would think that we can’t do that at all. But yes, you can only take it with humor. That there I am completely your opinion. In March, the worst of these G-terrorist measures will disappear for a while, i.e. 3G, 2G and everything else that’s out there. One can hardly still count. That will then probably disappear for a while, because even the last one has noticed, there is not even a hint of a reason for it. But personally, I think that has nothing, nothing at all to do with the fact that this permanent state attack on our basic civil liberties will now stop. They will no longer officially demand a test when you go to a restaurant, but it will of course remain normal for the state that you have to show vaccination documents in everyday life, that we will have to show vaccination certificates for everything in the future if we want to go to the hairdresser and I don’t so much, but you might or you want to go to a restaurant somewhere. That is, this mechanism that remains behind, there I am unfortunately pessimistic, that remains. So that we have a distraction-wise a pseudo relaxation, but this new fundamental attitude of the state that everyday things are put under permission reservation, that remains. And if you are not willing, then your green passport suddenly jumps to red and then you are no longer allowed to participate in the beautiful normal. And against this I think we have to become active.

Milena Preradovic: I would also say that the masks remain just like the vaccination print. So this is supposed to be the new normal?

Paul Brandenburg: From their point of view, that is the new normal. They have long since ticked that off. For them, this is the new normal. This is flanked non-stop by so-called expert committees, which keep pointing out that this can go away for a while. But one must always remain aware that it can come back at any time. Whether this is Bill Gates preparing us for the next pandemic and following his principle that after the pandemic is before the pandemic, in other words, the basic principle remains intact and active as long as we as citizens don’t say no, stop, we’re not going along with it anymore. It is not normal that I have to protect myself from the everyday risk of a cold by giving up my basic freedoms. It is not normal that I lock up my children because there is a cough or hoarseness going through a kindergarten. And it is not normal that I adjust my personal life within the bounds of due consideration to the fact that a health care system, as provided by the state, is now burdened or relieved. Damn it, it is these state services of general interest that have to be based on the existence of the people, not we who do not interfere. The state serves us.

Milena Preradovic: Yes exactly according to the motto: We have fiddled for 20 years, we have hardly any caregivers, so you have to stay at home and lock yourselves in because we have made bad policies. That’s one way of looking at it.

Paul Brandenburg: Surprise, we paid them so badly too. Imagine if we pay the caregivers better now, then suddenly there would be no money left for all the nice energy transition problems and stuff that the state still invented. So we see how the state and how the politicians above all. It’s not the abstract state, it’s the concretely acting politicians. It is not a problem of our Basic Law. It’s a problem of Karl Lauterbach and Markus Söder, who trample on our Basic Law and has.

Milena Preradovic: By the way, he has now said So if the epidemiological emergency runs out, then you can do. But there you have to pass emergency packages to be able to reintroduce measures. I mean, it will be autumn. Autumn 22 is also virtually just around the corner.

Paul Brandenburg: Are you serious? Do you really think that fall is coming?

Milena Preradovic: It’s a new flu season, as always with Corona viruses like every year. What is your forecast? Same procedure? Will we have to behave the same way again in the fall as fall 21 and fall 20?

Paul Brandenburg: Sorry to laugh, but it’s cute. As a field-and-forest doctor, what’s my prognosis as far as infectious diseases?

Milena Preradovic: No, no. It’s about the measures, the prognosis. We don’t know what variant of anything, coming from the influenza, corona or whatever.

Paul Brandenburg: But what we know very clearly is that infectious diseases will increase again. That’s called seasonality. It’s really the oldest thing in the world. Not earlier than flu season, cold season. So that’s coming back. And now one must be really no medium, in order to suspect, that probably with the then rising numbers of of Bagatelle illness also a Karl Lauterbach or however its successors will be called then, because it is also not this man, who is to blame then. He is yes a symptom, not he is a willing executor of this political-terrorist plan for the abandonment of our basic rights, then they will have again their reason and say aa looks, looks, looks then diarrheal diseases increase, then infectious disease increase. Now we have to take action again, because otherwise, yes, the health care system could be overloaded. Yes, it is. A general excuse has been created. A general excuse for arbitrary restrictions, abolition of our fundamental rights at any time. And we have to say no, we do not accept this general clause, we oppose it.

Milena Preradovic: Yes, I think the times when you watched democracy as a citizen are over. So now something has to happen, right?

Paul Brandenburg: Yes, if we go on like this for a long time, then there is little democracy left for something to happen, I think. The examples are legion, not this European pandemic authority, which is in the process of being created, which will then have direct access to the countries throughout Europe, so to speak. This Europe-wide consolidation of Covid passports or whatever they will be called. It is still called the Covid pass. In the future it will just be called the Green Pass and at some point it will be what they expected with the ID 2020. In other words, a fundamental electronic permission system that is on a cell phone or somewhere else that tells you whether you can go out the door or not, depending on your good behavior. In China they call it social scoring system.

Milena Preradovic: Hmmm. One of the projects of the EU is to introduce compulsory vaccination in the whole EU. At the moment it looks like the general vaccination obligation might not come now. But do you think that the topic is completely off the table?

Paul Brandenburg: No, the issue will not be off the table as long as we leave these offenders in their offices. I’m always picky about that. I’m sorry, you know. Don’t called vaccination.

Milena Preradovic: Mandatory vaccination different.

Paul Brandenburg: It’s okay, I’ll refer to it the same way. I do call this thing vaccination all the time at Covid, because people got so used to it. But no, this obligation to constantly take, to constantly consume these drugs, these experimental drugs, can of course be extended in a general way to whatever you want. In the future, there will be a basic flu vaccination obligation every year. I bet Annalena Baerbock would also like that very much. The woman who is so terribly competent in everything has now come out in favor of mandatory vaccination. Let autumn come, a new cold, disease or megatron. And then you’ll have compulsory vaccination for it, because the infrastructure will already be there. This offer of an electronic monitoring passport will create the demand. Entire industries have been formed around it, test center chains that already exist, vaccination consultations and vaccination centers, and the entire monitoring apparatus. You can buy these little plastic cards in pharmacies now. Buy your European plastic vaccination card here. So this is a self-perpetuated system and we really need to powerfully limit and end that.

Milena Preradovic: Yes, the problem is that many people still consider it normal and are still hysterical and have such a deep, fundamental fear. And I’m a bit worried that you can’t get many people out of this fear. How do you see that?

Paul Brandenburg: I have that concern, too. And I honestly believe that this is not a desperate attempt to bring in advertising. But in fact, the platform is such a free media project, as we do it, is aimed at telling people that ultimately it’s not about Corona, it’s not about Covid-19, and it’s not about this mask at Corona. It’s about the basic attitude of how to cope with life risks, life risks that can’t be changed. In my view, this is also a form of wealth neglect that we have in our latitudes. In these so-called highly developed countries. The fear threshold is lowered to such an extent that people are very worried about the smallest little things, because there are hardly any real existential worries left. And we also have to show people that it is possible to live well and happily with this fear, the residual worry about such diseases, about such developments. It is important to laugh about the situation we are in. That’s what we are trying to do now at every opportunity. It’s important to show that having a freedom from this is more than just criticizing covid measures. We need a really fundamental rebuilding of our social, our basic social assumptions. And that’s a far-reaching project. And new media is a part of it.

Milena Preradovic: Yes, and what is the problem, however, is that the children and young people are growing up like this now, with these restrictions, with these measures, with this fear. And of course they consider it normal, because it is their normality. They don’t have 10 years under their belt like we do. They don’t know that things can be different. And that means that when we are gone, it is easy to install such a system.

Paul Brandenburg: Yes, there is a creepy quote from the famous movie The Silence of the Lambs. That’s what this psychopathic psychiatrist, who’s sitting there in prison, says to very FBI agent: What does the Claires man desire, what does he see every day? And that’s exactly the problem. Man gets used to what he sees every day. He perceives that as normal, if people grow up in cruel violent circumstances, then that’s a very big problem for them to cope in a peaceful society. Even if you thought that was bad, you got used to this constant sight of brutality and violence. The little children now, who are growing up, who are maybe 2, 4, 6 years old and have only ever seen people with masks on everyday occasions, they conclude that this is the normal state of affairs. And then they find it abnormal to see a person without a mask in the supermarket and then they will react with fear. We have to show people a counter-reality. That is also the task of the media, to make sure that this distorted image, this artificial normality that political terrorists make us believe with the help of a dependent media system of the state. We have to set images against it and say no, normal is without a mask. Normal is not to classify the person I do not know, who approaches me, as an aggressive, not a slingshot and terrorist, but to receive him in the first time with the due general caution but open eyes and open heart. This is also the deeper task, I think. One of an alternative media world.

Milena Preradovic: At the moment there is basically a lot happening out of the opposition. So walks that have lost their innocence.

Paul Brandenburg: That sounds a bit insinuating.

Milena Preradovic: I don’t know how Steinmeier came up with that either. Are you optimistic that this, that the citizens can just sort of overturn this narrative, of the worst pandemic ever?

Paul Brandenburg: I don’t think I’m optimistic in the sense that you might mean. So are we going to succeed in ending this tomorrow because they’re all going to stand up and say, no, we’re not going to do it anymore. I’m afraid it’s not that simple. And I’m afraid that’s not what’s common in this country here. People like to be well-behaved here in Germany. Kadavergehorsam is a word that comes from Germany. So we go wrong or right, we go along with it for now. But I am optimistic that there will always be an after. And that if a big crash comes now and a disastrous consequence must come from my point of view, because that is economically, because that is not affordable from the health of the average population. This lived Corona political terror that we have is cutting a swath of devastation through our society. But there is an after that. There is a day after that. The sun always rises again and it is now at least our task to make sure that for this time afterwards now the people come together who have the desire to build up something so that one realizes There are many others out there who just do not go through life with this negative attitude. Who want a prosperous togetherness, a happy one that is first of all not directed at defense, who now see there is potential for the good afterwards. And let me put it this way Every day we can turn this into reality sooner. The more we can prevent that there are really big failures, the faster we get back into something positive, something rebuilding is oriented, the better it is. And I’m optimistic that this will happen, because in the history of the world it’s just always been like this. It’s not always downhill. At some point the bottom is reached and with Merkel and Steinmeier we are already pretty far down.

Milena Preradovic: That’s true. But I remind you that in other countries it took longer in some cases. Already from the GDR. So it is not said. But anyway. No, no, we want to stop optimistically. That’s why. We end this conversation now, because you have spread so nicely a little bit at least optimism. Thank you Paul.

Paul Brandenburg: Thank you, Milena.

Milena Preradovic: Yes, also because you pushed theplattform. Great idea, guys, for you to be involved. Absolutely. Well, guys, take a good look around our new platform. I like it. It has something pleasantly harmonious, I think. And of course really good protagonists. And there are more and more new ones every week. And if there should be a few beginner’s mistakes, people, that’s completely normal. Such a platform develops constantly and the more people go to theplattform.net, the better it is for the freedom of opinion. I wish you a good time. See you soon.
